By SEVEN

Keith, Rita, Guy and Jess return to The Voice in 2022

The Seven Network today confirmed the beloved superstar coaches from the #1 series of 2021 are back, when The Voice returns to Channel 7 and 7plus in 2022.

After winning the heart of the nation in 2021, multiple ARIA and GRAMMY© Award winner Keith Urban, UK hit machine Rita Ora, mega-selling singer-songwriter Guy Sebastian, and  singing and acting sensation Jessica Mauboy are set to find Australia’s next singing star, all from the comfort of their famous red chairs.

Sonia Kruger will also return as host for the 11th season of The Voice, the world’s biggest singing competition.

From the moment it arrived at its new home on Seven, The Voice has dominated the national conversation, capturing a series average total audience of 2.11 million nationally, up 49% on last year. It is the only series to deliver more than 1 million metro viewers for every episode, and the most successful series of The Voice since 2015.

This year’s Grand Final Winner Announced segment saw 2.42 million people nationally watch from the edge of their seats as Bella Taylor Smith was crowned The Voice 2021 in a life-changing and spectacular result. Earlier that night, 2.2 million people watched the Grand Final episode.

I can’t wait to return to The Voice. I absolutely love Australia, andit’s a privilege to be part of such a life-changing show. The phenomenal artists this year blew my mind, especially Team Rita. The other coaches are like extended family and I’m really looking forward to getting back together to discover the next The Voice superstar.

Rita Ora

The Voice just sent me a photo of an empty spinning red chair and said ‘this has your name on it’…. and it literally did…. So, I RSVP’d ‘YES!’…. and I’ll be coming ready to play!!

Keith Urban

Last season was one of the best times I’ve ever had making television! The vibe was great, the fun was real and, yet again, we uncovered some insane Aussie talent. I can’t wait to be back again next season with Keith, Rita, Jess and the incredible team of producers and musicians to make some more magic happen! Oh … and Team Guy won. Bella you really raised the standards for all of us!

Guy Sebastian

I am excited to be invited back to The Voice 2022 with this incredible team of coaches again. We had such a great time this year. The talent in this country is exceptional and to be able to continue to support and showcase upcoming musicians is always an honour.

With consolidated viewing, including catch-up and online streaming audiences, the 2021 season had an average total audience of 2.11 million viewers. That represented a 24% lift on the 2021 series’ average overnight audience.

The Voice boosted Seven’s timeslot audience year-on-year by an average of 105% in 25 to 54s and 95% in total people. It was up 42% on the series’ 2020 national audience, and up 36% in the capital cities.

The Voice has dominated the new VOZ total TV reporting system, ranking as the #1 program each week since its launch. The spectacular launch episode was watched by 2.31 million Australians nationally, including over 292,000 on 7plus, giving the singing competition its biggest launch since 2015 and Seven its biggest entertainment show launch since 2016.

We’re thrilled with how Australia has connected with the incredible new season of The Voice on Seven to make it the number one television show in 2021. Our electrifying new line-up of megastar coaches – Keith Urban, Rita Ora, Guy Sebastian and Jessica Mauboy – our fantastic host Sonia Kruger and this year’s world-class artists engaged viewers and hit the right notes with younger audiences.

The series is the #1 entertainment show of the year, dominated its timeslot in 25 to 54s and under 50s and reached new heights on 7plus to become the streaming service’s biggest launch show ever and Australia’s #1 live-streamed show in 2021. Angus Ross, Seven’s Network Director of Programming

The total video results across linear, streaming and on demand for The Voice has been nothing short of phenomenal. Using the 7REDiQ data platform, we saw that The Voice led in the demos and was able to help brands achieve stronger results by connecting with audiences at a deeper, more relevant level across all screens.

The brand integrations and the show’s huge audience created a winning formula for marketers. We look forward to creating even more exciting new innovations our partners in the next series of The Voice and in The Voice: Generations.

Meet The Coaches

Keith Urban

Keith Urban is a one of a kind artist: a world renowned musician, producer, songwriter and singer whose music defies categorising by genre. Driven by an insatiable creative hunger, he breaks the moulds of stereotype and absorbs musical inspiration from everywhere. debut in Australia, the US and Canada. His live shows are an explosive experience of emotion, energy and showmanship and he makes it his goal to connect and touch every soul, whether in an arena of 15,000 or outdoors in front of 50,000. He possesses an innate ability to connect with people both musically and personally. A winner of scores of accolades, Urban is a five-time ARIA and four-time Grammy Award winner, and has also won the coveted ACM and CMA Entertainer of the Year. Collaboration has always played a part in Keith’s creative odyssey, having found a common language whether on stage or in the studio with a diverse list of artists including Post Malone, Taylor Swift, Nile Rodgers, John Mayer, Eric Church, Keith Richards and Julia Michaels.

Rita Ora

Rita Ora is an international pop singer with four #1 UK singles and holds the record for the most top 10 singles for a British female artist in the UK with a total of 13. Her US debut album Phoenix has amassed over three billion streams worldwide, spawned three platinum singles and includes Lonely Together, her collaboration with Avicii, which won Best Dance VMA at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards. Her debut album Ora premiered at #1 on the UK charts and was certified platinum. Rita is a multi-talented industry leader across music, acting, culture and fashion. Her film credits include the Fifty Shades of Grey franchise, Fast & Furious, Southpaw, POKÉMON Detective Pikachu and the upcoming Sky original movie TWIST alongside Michael Caine and Lena Headey, in which she plays the female iteration of the Artful Dodger.

Guy Sebastian

Guy Sebastian’s ninth record T.R.U.T.H. rocketed to the top of the ARIA Albums Chart this year to become his third #1 record, spawning the mega hits Choir, Before I Go, Standing With You and Love On Display, as well as a hot ticket arena tour set for November Sebastian boasts six #1 singles, the most by any Australian male artist in ARIA history, and three #1 albums. As the first-ever Australian contestant at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest, which attracted 200 million viewers, Sebastian finished in fifth place. He has shifted well over seven million combined units worldwide, has 723 million streams worldwide while attaining 42 Platinum certifications since he first exploded through our TV sets and into our hearts as the winner of the inaugural season of Australian Idol back in 2003. As one of Australia’s most successful singer/songwriter/producers, Sebastian’s unwavering passion for music translates into consistently authentic, memorable performances. The golden thread that runs through each Guy Sebastian song is his ability to manifest very specific emotional moments using that God-given musical instrument: his voice.

Jessica Mauboy

Pop icon, actress, musician, role model – Jessica Mauboy is an accomplished songwriter and pianist with serious acting chops and multiple accolades. She first burst onto our screens in 2006 and has been a fixture on radio, TV and film ever since. She has expertly made the mix of R ‘n’ B, pop, funk, soul, hip hop and dance her infectious signature sound. Mauboy is not only a fan favourite, she’s earned the respect of her industry peers, as an ARIA winner for Best Female in 2013, and an AACTA award winner for her breakout role in The Sapphires.
